A fun experiment with Fans - Keeping your students safe at school

Studies have shown that the temperature of a learning environment has a direct impact on a student's ability to learn and retain information. In Australia, a large portion of the year is spent in warmer conditions, signifying the importance of having an effective cooling system in schools. Whilst the majority of Australian classrooms are air conditioned, it's the bigger spaces like sports halls, eating areas and assembly rooms; that are incredibly energy intensive when trying to cool.

HVLS (high volume low speed) fans are built to push large amounts of air through a space, without creating a draft or eating up your energy bill. While the fans don’t cool down the actual temperature of the building, the breeze that brushes over your students, can cool them down by up to 6 degrees.

Now this may sound all well and good, but what about the risks that come with having a 6-10m fan hanging from your ceiling, with balls and equipment flying everywhere. At Big Ass Fans, safety is our first priority, especially in situations where children are involved. Our HVLS fans come with a Patented Airfoil Restraint System. This system ensures that in the event of an accident where one of the wings is damaged, the entire structure of the fan will remain securely connected and mounted to the ceiling, posing no threat to your student below.

To ensure this statement remains true, we’ve tested this exact scenario. Take a look for yourself, and see how strong a HVLS really is!
