The Anatomy of an Evap Cooler

What is an evaporative cooler?

Looking to cool a warehouse, but air conditioning is too costly? Look no further than an Evaporative cooler! Evaporative coolers offer a more sustainable solution to air conditioning, without compromising results. The evap cooler takes in the warm air of your space, and uses evaporation to actually reduce the air’s temperature. Without being too technical, we want to take a dive into the components that come together to make up an evaporative cooler, or in our case, the Big Ass Fans Cool-Space.

Cooling Pads 

The cooling pads are one of the most important components of an evaporative cooler, given its what enables the cooling process to take place. The pads are kept moist by having water constantly pumped through. This enables the warm air passing through, to be cooled down (like air conditioning), by heat exchange between cooler water and warm air. Cool-Space coolers are made with thicker pads than normal, to ensure optimal cooling. Cool-Space is also Greenguard-certified and algae and mold resistant, which ensures clean and fresh air. 

Pump

While the cooling pads cool down the flowing air, the pump works to circulate the water within the evaporative cooler. The pump drives water through the pads to keep them moist at all times and ensures that it is evenly distributed. A Big Ass Fans Cool-Space can hold up to 174 litres of water, allowing for 10 hours of cooling without having to connect a hose. 

Fans

The workings of the fans are what truly put the evaporative cooler into play. We use our fans (engineered to push as much air as possible) to draw the warm ambient air, and push it through the cooling pads. Once the air has cooled, the fans blow the cool air out and help to circulate it around the space. To ensure that every space is cooled efficiently, Cool-Space comes with a variable speed dial.

To ensure the evaporative cooler can withstand the harshest of environments you choose to put it through, Cool-Space has been designed with a durable protectant exterior, as well as a stainless steel media cover to ensure longevity.
